Fashion week is currently underway in New York, with the annual event taking place in London, Milan and Paris in the coming weeks. It will start in the UK on Friday.
This year, the event was greeted with promises to change the industry for the better. Luxury groups LVMH and Kering have pledged to stop using underage and size zero models in their shows and advertising campaigns.
It comes after models’ working conditions came to light when, in February, a casting director reported colleagues for keeping models in an unlit stairwell for hours.
In March, models.com released the results of a survey in which models discussed unprofessional working conditions, non-payment and abuse in the industry.
