LONDON, October 20 (Reuters) – The British fashion ensemble returned to King’s Road in London on Wednesday to celebrate Mary Quant, the famous designer often credited with inventing the miniskirt, at the premiere of the first official documentary about his life and career.

Actress, producer and former fashion designer Sadie Frost made her feature film directorial debut with the film “Quant”, which chronicles Quant’s rise from a fashion-conscious tomboy who grew up in the Welsh countryside to a daring avant-garde designer.

“I wanted to keep her legacy alive because she’s such an amazing woman. She’s done so much for women, so much for fashion,” Frost, 56, told Reuters at the Chelsea premiere in London in a short distance from where Quant opened his first boutique, Bazar, in 1955.

With Quant’s role in the women’s fashion revolution at its heart, the documentary takes viewers back to the Swinging Sixties and the thrill of the British invasion, the mid-1960s cultural movement that included The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

The film uses archival footage, staging by actress Camilla Rutherford, and interviews with model Kate Moss, British Vogue editor Edward Enninful and Quant designer godson Jasper Conran, among others, to tell his story.

Quant, who is 91 years old and is rarely seen in public, did not appear in the documentary but the film was produced with the blessing of his son Orlando Plunket Greene, who provides insight into his family’s life and relationship. de Quant with her husband and business partner. Alexandre Plunket Greene.

Guests on the red carpet paid tribute to Quant’s enduring influence.

“Her legacy is the start of the London swing, you know, the real London swing and how we remember it. And I’m one of the few people who know her,” said designer Zandra Rhodes, 81.

“Quant” hits UK cinemas on October 29th.

Product Review: Stealth Cam Reactor Wed, 20 Oct 2021 20:16:13 +0000

The author placed this Stealth Cam Reactor around the beginning of August and was very impressed with the results.

Like most archery equipment on the market today, surveillance cameras have seen constant improvements, and this process has been fascinating to watch over the years. From gigantic, battery-consuming units of years gone by to today’s high-tech reconnaissance tools, surveillance cameras have been a popular topic of conversation among archery hunters – making them all hunters, in fact – since their inception.

Why is that? Well, put simply, surveillance cameras have allowed us to do something that has never been done before – keep an eye out for the deer herd when we can’t be in the woods scouting with boots on. ground. And that ability has continued to evolve over the years.

Fast forward to today, where modern technological advancements have again opened more doors that did not exist just a few years ago, via cellular camera technology. Or in other words, the ability to receive real-time information on your smartphone, wherever you are in the world.

Pretty crazy, eh? Regardless, most of the best trail camera companies in the world now have cellular camera models available, and I’ve spent the last few months testing one of them.

Enter the new Reactor of Stealth camera. Let’s first briefly take a look at the basic information that everyone wants to know before they make a purchase.

Reactor Specifications

  • Megapixels: 26
  • Flash type: NonGlo
  • Flash range: 100 feet
  • Trigger speed: <. 4 seconds
  • Video resolution: 1080P, 720P
  • Burst mode: 1-9 images
  • Downloads: High (1920×1080) and low resolution (1280×720)
  • Info bar: Time, date, moon phase, camera name
  • SD card: Up to 32 GB
  • Battery: 8 AA
  • Cellular provider: AT&T, Verizon
  • MSRP: $ 159.99

Once you have all of that information in your back pocket, here is the next thing you need to know and understand. Once you’ve placed the Reactor in the field, you’re completely in control via a cellphone app – something that’s consistent with other cellular surveillance cameras as well – and the one compatible with Stealth Cam is called COMMAND. To connect the unit to your app, simply scan the QR code inside the camera door and follow the instructions provided. Once everything is set up, you can pretty much do and see anything you could possibly need in the app. Want to switch between photo and video modes? Make the change on the app. Want to change your download frequency? Use the app. Need to increase your burst interval? You guessed it. This can be done in the app. It really couldn’t be easier, and once you’ve taken a little time to familiarize yourself with it, you’ll be able to maneuver without any hesitation. I give the COMMAND app an A +.

The COMMAND application is your headquarters. This is where all the magic happens. Need to adjust the reactor parameters? All is well in front of you.

As with any hunting camera you hook up in the field, keep in mind that it will likely take a few days for the deer to feel comfortable with the area again. Not only did you break in, but you left your scent behind as you did so. Believe me though; they will be back, especially if the camera was placed in a food patch or near another food source. It took me almost a week to get photos consistently, but the quality – and quantity – of the photos was worth the wait.

That was my strategy for this review – put the reactor in a location that I knew would have a lot of action. And from the beginning of August until now, that’s exactly what I’ve had: an overabundance of images. From evening feeding sessions to late summer nights to cruises in the middle of the night, the Reactor has managed to capture it all. There were even several instances where it was very clear that deer were running across the field, and there was an impressive lack of blur. And I know what you’re probably thinking – you don’t want your phone to go off every time a creature walks past the camera while you’re trying to sleep at 2:30 a.m. No problem – and stop me if you’ve heard this before – because you can make sure this doesn’t happen … in the app! Do you still see a trend?

This male was a regular in the few weeks of September.

The long and the short, that’s it. After the initial price of $ 159.99 – a bargain based on the quality of photos / videos I’ve seen over the past three months – you’re paying for the convenience of being able to do long-distance spotting. Whether you’re at work, at your kids’ basketball game, or lying on the couch watching college football, you’ll enjoy seeing what your deer herd is up to all the time. And best of all? You can do this without disturbing them, especially during the fall months when the season is underway.

Payment? Well, it’s totally up to you. With monthly and yearly options, you can choose the plan that fits your personal budget and lifestyle. But trust me, once you get the first reactor on your land, chances are you’re looking to get another one (or maybe two or three) to cover the rest of your property. So what is stopping you? Do not worry. Your secret is safe with us.

Admit it, when you think of durability, the last thing that comes to your mind is sexy. That is until you see Olivia Wilde’s new campaign for All-Natural, Sustainably-sourced Products. True Botanicals.

“People tend to equate indulgence with something mean,” Wilde tells Vogue.

“If it’s eco-responsible, if it’s better for your health, it can’t be indulgent. I think we need to dig deep to rebuild the cliché surrounding the sustainability of beauty and let people understand that they can indulge in skin care and feel like they are healing, even if it is something. something that is actually very good for the environment.

In addition to wanting to redefine the way we think about sustainability, Wilde also spoke to Vogue on the fight against body stigma, its wellness tips as well as the harms of social media.

Olivia Wilde: sustainability, beauty and well-being

Durability is sexy and important

For the new campaign coming out of True Botanicals range, the writer shared that she wanted to address how we interact with the environment as well as how we view sustainability,

Within the beauty industry, I really wanted to bring attention to celebrating what is indulgent, luxurious, pleasurable, and sexy in clean beauty.

Olivia Wilde / Instagram

Love the body you’re in

Wilde addressed the censorship the female body faces, especially on social media, and she used the new campaign to tackle taboos around the female body and in doing so advocated for body positivity.

We want to celebrate the idea of loving our own body and feeling confident because we feel beautiful and the idea that the rituals we perform for ourselves are occasions to celebrate ourselves.

The 37-year-old added that beauty is a chance for us to interact with and celebrate ourselves and that True Botanicals products are particularly powerful in this way.

Wilde also remembers a book she read by Eve Ensler and how there was a particular story where a woman would spend every night thanking her body at the end of the day,

It really moved me. I thought to myself, why don’t we spend more time thanking our bodies? And it’s actually something I do with my kids. Now we spend time thanking our bodies for helping us live our lives. I think if we could take the opportunity to turn beauty and skincare rituals into that kind of interaction with ourselves, into a celebration of being alive and taking care of our health, it will redefine beauty for many of us.

Mom’s self-care time

They say motherhood changes you, and it certainly is, especially when it comes to your grooming routine. The Booksmart the director shared that since having children, she has cleaned it up and simplified the way she sees beauty,

I wanted to take care of myself smarter so that I could be there longer for my children. I didn’t want to apply a bunch of carcinogens to my skin every day. And also wanting to be more respectful of the environment because it’s just something we think about a lot more when we have children.

Olivia Wilde / Instagram

The mother of two explained that when she was pregnant, she wanted to find clean and safe products. Once she gave birth, her perspective remained the same and she wanted to avoid exposing them to any kind of toxic chemicals on her skin.

Soon after, she noticed that her actions made her look and feel better,

So from a superficial point of view, it was actually effective.

Pure beauty is the way to go

Asked about her beauty routine, CO The actress revealed that even though she uses True Botanical products, the COVID pandemic has definitely changed the way we think about beauty, making us realize that not all of us need as much makeup as before.

She also admits that even though she tries to use only clean beauty products, it can be a bit difficult,

It is also a question of not having a baby. I really feel like it’s overwhelming for people when you suggest that they should completely get rid of their skincare and makeup and hair and everything that is toxic. I admire those who do and I work towards it. But I think it’s also a question of small steps and moderation. Just try to eliminate what you can.

The good news is that, as Wilde notes, many companies are doing their part to create more sustainable products, ”The idea of indulging in beauty without sacrificing our security is now an expectation rather than an aspiration, and it’s really exciting.

Olivia Wilde / Instagram

Devote your time (wisely) to your health

The past year has definitely taught us that nothing is certain and that life is short. Time being such a precious commodity, Wilde asks that we spend it how we want and with the people we want, especially because it can affect our health.

Wilde shares that she chooses to spend her time exercising and drinking more water, and in doing so, she feels better than ever.

Define the limits of social media

I know it’s difficult when you work in an industry that depends heavily on it. But on a personal level, I really found it to be something that brought a lot of peace to my life.I think mental health is something we need to focus more on, especially coming out of this crazy year.

So how does she unplug?

Granted, it was difficult at first, but the actress shares that like any drug rehab, it gets easier over time, especially as the benefits become more obvious. As such, she recommends that we try not to make everything so accessible and move away from applications that promote unhealthy behavior,

Recognize what you have control over and understand that whatever you bring into your life is a choice. We have a choice in how we spend our money, our votes and how we fill our lives with media is a choice in how we want to feel.

Rituals that allow you to regain some balance and connection with your inner voice – it really has a lot to do with our health.

Want to know more?

When you think of the word model, what names come to mind? Naomi Campbell? Iman? Beverly Johnson? What about a former Calvin Klein model? With a 35-year modeling career and an amazing physique to boot, there is clearly a lot we can do. discover the beauty of Cindy Crawford.

Paria Farzaneh Spring 2022 Ready-to-Wear Collection Tue, 19 Oct 2021 19:09:16 +0000

Overall, since fashion gatherings resumed earlier this year, the most remarkable phenomenon has been how some designers have torn down the fourth wall between the audience and the runway.

Stepping into Paria Farzaneh’s event at the ICA in London was one such opportunity. A casually dressed crowd gathered around the bar, chatting, drinking coffee and munching on an Iranian picnic breakfast cooked by his mother, Fereshteh. It took a few minutes for him to realize that this was not the prelude to being ushered into another room to see his spring show. It was the spectacle.

“You know, the people who wear my clothes don’t really tend to be runway models,” Farzaneh shrugged, smiling with a pleasantly subversive glint in his eyes. “So I don’t do a parade. It’s my friends, the people I work with who are important to me.

Among those standing nearby – demonstrating her take that there is no false semblance of distance between Farzaneh’s collection and reality – were the designer’s boss, her accountant, a skateboarder. , a DJ friend, a boxer and two of his cousins. The regular role-playing formalities suddenly collapsed and dissolved in a social barrier crash created by Farzaneh.

It’s embarrassing to watch what strangers are wearing, and an audience isn’t supposed to talk to models. But we were all there, chatting almost like it was… normal. Not quite, of course. Farzaneh’s cast of return-to-normal behavior on the catwalks was designed to celebrate and cement the importance of human interaction in these times of pandemic. She was a part of her own invisible show herself, walking around wearing a khaki fishtail skirt curved up to the ankle with a center utility pocket and a gray and white plaid camp shirt with a zipper on the back. before.

It was part of a collection that it used to only target men, but is now starting to stand out. There were extremely flared jeans and box-pleated skirts, as well as a dress and a halter top with cartridge pockets. Something about Farzaneh’s crew seemed ready for action: hers is a re-rooted subgenre of military utility clothing that’s stamped with a block-printed signature drawn from the culture’s centuries-old artistic tradition. of his family in Isfahan, central Iran.

This season, men and women both got shirts, cargo pocket shorts and similar bobs printed with these iconic markers. Meanwhile, in a semantic twist that could only be read in her collector’s notes, she had reformulated the name of a bomber as an “anti-aircraft jacket.”

The nuance, affect and atmosphere of the designers’ attempts to mount actual confrontations with the absurdity of the runway are (ironically) impossible to convey digitally. Demna Gvasalia stepped closer as he smashed the fourth walls between true, false and hilarious meta with every appearance of his show on the Balenciaga red carpet. Francesco Risso did it by involving the whole audience in his happening Marni. Pierpaolo Piccioli attempted to break the setup of an elite insider of a traditional Valentino show by parading his collection in front of an audience on the street in Paris. To stay relevant these days, the job of a smart fashion thinker is as much about reinventing, satirizing, melting and transforming the old rules of fashion shows as it is designing new clothes.

Paria Farzaneh may be a long way from these exalted places, but she too – and so many of her generation – is an integral part of this grand critique of the absurd 20th century manners that persist in much of 21st century fashion. . industry.

New Nest Cam and Nest Doorbell don’t support TV streaming Tue, 19 Oct 2021 09:15:50 +0000

This year, Google updated its Next line of security cameras and doorbells to add features like battery power and offline storage. This ensures that your home security system is doing its job even if there is a power outage or internet connection failure. In addition, the company has lowered the prices of new Next products, making them more affordable. But battery-powered Nest Cam and Nest Doorbell devices also have frustrating issues. Most notably, they currently lack support for television streaming.

Several users have taken to Google’s online forums to report that their new Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Doorbell (battery) devices cannot stream video to Chromecast or Android TV. They get an error message stating that the device “does not support broadcasting to remote screens”, even when both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Since wired versions of the same devices can stream to a compatible TV through Chromecast, many thought this was a temporary issue and were looking for help or workarounds from other users. But, in the end, Google ditched that feature of the new battery-powered Nest security cameras and doorbells. An official support page mentions that the “Nest Cam (battery) and Nest Doorbell (battery) can only stream to a smart display screen.”

It is a glaring omission that has gone under the radar most of the time. But as more and more people use new Nest products on a daily basis, the missing functionality is highlighted. Fortunately, Google says it’s working on adding TV streaming support to battery-powered Nest devices (via 9to5Google). We don’t have a timeline yet on when the feature might arrive, but the official confirmation gives some hope.

Battery-powered versions of the Nest Cam and Nest Doorbell have more issues

TV streaming isn’t the only feature missing on the new battery-powered Nest Cams and Nest Doorbell. These devices also do not have the continuous video recording function. Instead, as PiunikaWeb report notes, they now offer up to three hours of video event history. Google has reportedly removed continuous video recording due to thermal issues.

Additionally, Google’s new Nest Cam doesn’t allow users to see video feeds and web history. Older models have a web portal. The latest models require the Google Home app. They don’t work with the original Nest app at all. The company says the web experience for the new Nest Cams will be available next year.

Study designs Surveillance testing on a fully vaccinated campus Tue, 19 Oct 2021 07:07:03 +0000

New mathematical modeling study finds surveillance testing on college campuses with 100% vaccinated population may still play an important role in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 “under all but the most optimistic conditions.” for the efficacy of the vaccine.

The study published in JAMA Health Forum found that in simulations with a vaccine efficacy of 90 percent, weekly surveillance tests were only linked to a marginal reduction in virus transmission at a campus of 5,000 students with a vaccination rate of 100 percent. hundred. But at 50 or 75 percent effectiveness of the vaccine, researchers estimated that surveillance tests reduced infections by up to 93.6 percent.

The study, which was completed before the widespread emergence of the Delta variant, cited research showing that the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines were about 90% effective in blocking infection and transmission, while the effectiveness of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was estimated to be around 67%.

“This simulated modeling study of the dynamics of infections at a college campus in which 100 percent of students were vaccinated suggested that surveillance testing had an important role in limiting infections in all but the most optimistic conditions,” which may be unrealistic in the face of potential risks. decreased vaccine effectiveness due to variants or waning immunity, ”the authors wrote in their conclusion.

Francis C. Motta, assistant professor of mathematical sciences at Florida Atlantic University, was the study’s lead author. The other study authors are variously affiliated with Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and the National Institutes of Health.

Motta said data from Duke’s COVID-19 testing program was used to inform the modeling.

While some colleges (including Duke) continue to perform routine testing on vaccinated and unvaccinated students, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not recommend that colleges routinely test vaccinated students.

CDC guidelines for higher education institutions say “fully vaccinated people with no COVID-19-like symptoms and no known exposure should be exempted from routine testing programs.”

The CDC did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday afternoon.

The most dramatic and doomed “age” relationships Mon, 18 Oct 2021 21:01:00 +0000

In the 90 day fiancé franchise, May-December romances are nothing new, and there have been times when age differences between the actors played a role in their relationship fading. It can be difficult to make a new partnership work. It’s even more difficult when the two partners are at drastically different times in their lives.

Large age gaps in a relationship can trigger a host of issues, including economic imbalances, family disapproval, and jealousy. These problems are only scratching the surface. Numerous 90 day fiancé relationships are doomed to failure and age is often a contributing factor.

With the many hardships that come with big age differences, as well as the scrutiny that reality celebrity brings, it’s no wonder that these kinds of romances often don’t stand the test of time. These are the actors whose age differences have caused big problems in their relationships.

Big Ed Brown & Rose Vega

Before the 90 Days-Toxic-Big Ed asks Rose to take an STD test

There was a lot that fans found unpleasant about Big Ed’s relationship with his ex-girlfriend Rose, including the economic imbalance between the young woman and “white savior” Ed. However, it was. the couple’s significant age difference which really put viewers off, as Ed was 31 years older than Rose, 23. Although Big Ed likes to repeat the old cliché, “age is just a number,“He and Rose were at very different times in their lives. However, viewers were surprised to see that Rose turned out to be the most mature and confident in their relationship. Now that she’s single again, fans are hopeful that Rose will find someone more suitable for her age.

Juliana Custodio & Michael Jessen

Michael Juliana Season 7 2021 still together in 90 Day Fiance 4

Michael and Juliana recently announced their breakup, and there were some fans who weren’t exactly surprised. After all, the couple’s age difference was a strain on their marriage from day one. Michael is 20 years older and Juliana was very young when she and supposedly wealthy American Michael met, which led many viewers to think Juliana was a gold digger. The two had a good few years, but they decided to go their separate ways. Juliana has youthful energy and wants to pursue a modeling career and travel a lot, while Michael has already established a life in Connecticut, where he has dependent children. In the end, it was probably for the best that the couple decided to go their separate ways.

Mohamed & Danielle Jbali

Danielle Mullins Mohamed Jbali as 90 day fiancé

With 15 years apart, Danielle and Mohamed are not the most unsuitable couple at the age of 90 day fiancé franchise, but the age difference certainly didn’t help their relationship. As if being from two radically different cultures wasn’t difficult enough to deal with, Mohamed clearly wasn’t attracted to his older wife. He wanted to spend his time with people his age. Danielle and Mohamed’s relationship was definitely doomed from the start, and now that Danielle and Mohamed have divorced, they are free to seek out partners closer to their age.

Jason Hitch & Cassia Tavares

At 90 day fiancé Season 2, Jason and Cassia were a deeply incompatible couple, and that was due in large part to their age difference. The couple were 15 years apart and Cassia looked more like the cranky little sister or niece of Jason than her fiancé. The two surprisingly held on for many years, but after filing for divorce twice, Jason and Cassia broke up for good. Cassia needs someone who can match her youthful energy and Jason needs someone who wants to settle down and live a simple life, so their breakup was a wise move.

Lisa Hamme & Usman Umar

Lisa Hamme Usman Umar 90 Day Fiancé-

Viewers thought Lisa was foolish to pursue a relationship with a Nigerian musician who was 21 years her junior, and given the way things ended between them, these franchise fans were probably right. In just about every way possible, Lisa and Usman were a terrible match, and their age difference was a major source of frustration. Lisa was extremely jealous of other women because of her insecurity of being much older than Usman. It was clear that Lisa and Usman’s relationship was never going to work out, and in the end, it sure wasn’t.

Molly Hopkins & Luis Mendez

Molly Luis as 90 day fiancé

While Molly is undoubtedly a dynamic woman, there was a very noticeable age gap between the reality TV star and her ex-husband Luis. The couple met when Molly was on vacation, but in America their incompatibility was fully visible. Molly had two dependent daughters at home and Luis immediately proved he was not worthy of being a father figure to them. It was also clear that Luis was using Molly for a green card, which made him seem all the more immature. After season 5, Molly and Luis divorced. She has a new man.

Jonathan Rivera and Fernanda Flores

The age difference between Jonathan and Fernanda is only 13, but Fernanda was 19 when she came to America to be with Jonathan. It put her in a much different place in her life than Jonathan, 30 and something. It was no surprise that the couple often hit each other over the head, though at times it seemed like Jonathan was the least mature. Jonathan and Fernanda’s relationship was explosive and reportedly abusive. Now Fernanda has a new boyfriend who is closer to her in age.

Jenny Slatten & Sumit Singh

sumit and jenny on 90 day fiance

Recently, Jenny celebrated her 63rd birthday, and it made her three-decade age gap with boyfriend Sumit even more dramatic. Their age difference has caused major friction with Sumit’s family, who can’t seem to understand why he would want to marry a woman so much older than himself. Viewers have asked the same question as Jenny and Sumit don’t seem to be in the same place in their lives. However, they gave up a lot to be together. The couple are still going strong as ever, although fans doubt they can last much longer.

The 90 day fiancé The franchise has featured many failed marriages and relationships, and with some of them, the main culprit is the large age gap between the partners. Although an age gap is not an insurmountable obstacle, a significant age difference is often the first step towards a split.

Zendaya wears Vivienne Westwood and Peter Do for ‘Dune’ press event Mon, 18 Oct 2021 15:46:31 +0000

Timothée Chalamet did not hesitate on his looks for Sunday Dune press events in London. The actor wore two eye-catching costumes when promoting the upcoming film, but Zendaya isn’t one to be overshadowed by his co-star. She stood next to Timmy throughout the day in her own high fashion outfits, both of which she hung directly on the runway.

The day started with a photo call for the Dune thrown in front of the London eye. While Chalamet adopted an 18th-century canvas-inspired print, Zendaya was about a century in the future with a steampunk halterneck top courtesy of Vivienne Westwood’s Spring 2020 collection. Much like on the catwalk, Zendaya stylist Law Roach paired the charming chain top with an asymmetric burnt orange plaid skirt, finishing it off with a pair of nude Christian Louboutin pumps.

Later that night, Zendaya went for a more casual, but no less trendy look, pulling on an outfit from Pete Do’s latest spring collection. Once again, Zendaya has stayed true to the designer’s style, wearing the black leather pants and the oversized pleated white button, almost exactly as shown on the runway.

These two looks mark the continuation of Zendaya’s must-see style marathon. The actress has proven that she adores taking parts straight to the runway, and her traditional model physique no doubt makes it super easy.
