HOULTON, Maine – Before becoming a graduate esthetician, Kimberly Maguire worked as a model, walking the catwalks and traveling the world. Now she hopes to bring some of what she’s learned to the people of Houlton.
“I wanted to bring things that I have experienced in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, wherever I have lived,” said Maguire in her new Sundara Med Beauty Spa, located on Water Street in Houlton. “I wanted to bring that here, but keep the Houlton prices.”
Before moving to Houlton, Maguire lived in Kingstown, Rhode Island, with her husband Jeff. But they had often visited Houlton after buying an arboreal farm in Grand Isle, and when their daughter decided to go to the University of Maine in Orono, they decided to move.
“It was all so organic to come here, and we really love the community,” Maguire said. “It was calm, it was safe, it’s very family-friendly. It was nice to have this very welcoming atmosphere, and I just loved the natural beauty and aesthetics of the whole community.
Now, Maguire hopes to help Houlton residents with their own beauty needs.

Maguire plans to meet the needs of men, women and adolescents, as well as work with extremely sensitive skin, using techniques such as microdermabrasion and Circadia skin care products.
Maguire plans to open the spa for business in late August or early September.
“The beauty industry is constantly evolving. It’s very fluid. And so we are always changing as people, ”she said. “My goal is, whatever someone’s concern is, that we can work together to find a solution. “
